Party time

6197989230_de82acce49_o IMG_8653

I had a cardigan on too but I looked so sleepy in those photos I yanked them at the last minute. It was a long tie one from Target.
Shirt and pants H&M
Shoes Clarks (below)
Ring Marc by Marc Jacobs
Lip Gothic by Revlon (below) I love this stuff.

This look was from Friday. Friday I went home and cleaned like a mad woman. By cleaned I mean worked on unpacking more stuff. Oy. The second bedroom is where we dumped all the craft and winter stuff. Still isn't done. Once it is cool enough to open all the windows and spend the day in there. It has been so damn hot since we moved in. Who wants to spend the day in there sweating working on it when you can enjoy the cool rest of the house?

What did you do this weekend? What did you eat?

We had a party with mine and Dave's family. See.

My family

Dave's family is in the middle. Mine is on the ends. Just match up the people who look alike. he. We had a great time. I had every one bring a dish I loved. Let me tell you that is the best idea for a party EVER. Do it. Seriously do it.

Dad brought steak egg rolls
Dad's lady pear cobbler
Dave made smashed potatoes. He makes those little potatoes, cooks them, takes them out smashes them and recooks them. They look like they were run over and they are delicious.
Dave's mom brought Zupa Toscana (sp. It's like the Olive Garden soup. We had it at our wedding after party. It is always popular in crowds. Potatoes, sausage, kale and bacon. I mean come on!) and spice and red velvet cupcakes.
Dave's sis made the world's most fancy and most delicious mac and cheese with Gruyere, thick bacon and brocollini?
Gram made pork pie. I don't know if it is a French Canadian thing or not but it is a really big holiday pie where I grew up.

oh and except for the egg rolls it was all gluten free!!!

I love the casual, unposed pictures of you - it's like being able to see what you really look like in real life! Happy belated birthday!

Looks like a really lovely time was had! It's funny - you can so easily tell who belongs to who in that one group photo! I love that- my family looks nothing alike and it makes me sad :(

Happy getting closer to your birthday day! Looks like you got some awesome stuff. That's one thing I miss is family get-together's. Mine is so spread out that it's just never going to happen again.

@cassykins don't you live with family? The closest family we have it about 75 miles away (all these people) and my mom is really far. in Florida :(
I've spent the past 18 years with one parent on the other side of the country. I just have move back and forth!
I made them all come to me for the first time. I'm always the one traveling. It was SO NICE.

whenlifehandsyouapear it was really a genius idea.

Your hair looks extra awesome in your outfit photo.

Also your party looks great! All that food makes my mouth water.

Tourtiere (aka pork pie) is a pretty traditional (and oftentimes super delicious) typical French Canadian dish. Yum! I love your Gram :)

Btw, that looks like a great party! Happy birthday!

@Amanda thanks it's not until the 6th. ;)
I phrased above poorly. I know it's a French Canadian thing I didn't know if it was ONLY a french canadian thing or if others grew up with it as well. Gram if french.

Looks like an absolute blast! All the food sounds amazing.

I had a pretty typical weekend of thrifting, chilling at my mom's, and sleeping in on sunday. I had bourbon peppercorn chicken with risotto and green beans at Mom's, and sunday I made baked steaks, scalloped potatoes and fresh steamed broccoli. yum!

Of the people I live with, I would only consider 1.5 of them family (which doesn't make for much of a get-together) Most are in NJ or FL and those are the people that I really miss and wish could get together (it doesn't even have to be for MY birthday!)

Mail me the leftovers! My GF repertoire is tired as heck.

You look great, and happy. :)

I worked most of the weekend, and cleaned some - or ordered the teens to clean, anyway. I was in a terrible mood yesterday so I drove out to my sister's to play with my 3 year old niece! Finally, I applied for 5 jobs, because my job is killing me slowly. Here's hopin!
