10.13.11

I gotta be honest. I've taken outfit photos for the blog. Then I deleted them. Dude you can't win them all and that is something I struggle with daily. But I am learning. Deleting them was a big step for me. Usually I'd keep them and keep looking at them and picking them apart. Plus this isn't a fashion blog I just sometimes post that more than life.
And life has been lots of  fun when it hasn't been an asshole. I have lot of fun pics from the last week or so to share.

What I wore on my birthday.

I wasn't feeling my best that day. I decided to wear some of my favorite things to try and counteract that. The coat and boots. I didn't like the result. That happens when I pick at the last screaming second. I had a long cardigan on too.

Dress H&M
Coat Antropologie clearance like 4 years ago. I call it my Lemony Snickett coat. I totally shrunk it a few weeks ago. I thought I might have and then seeing the sleeves and now I know I did.
Boots Marc Jacobs
Shirt Target
Scarf H&M

My mom saw these pics and said I needed more sleep. She was 135% right. OY.

For my birthday I treated myself to getting my hair colored professionally. It looks nice but I do a better job honestly. I styled it here. I also did a better job at that then the professional did too. It is really hard to dye your own hair when it is this long or thick. She did it in a third the time I do. She also had to clean the mess. I took some fresh from salon pics and it wasn't ME, again deleted them. I hadn't dyed in a salon in a year. Last time I colored it was in March, it was dark brown just like this. It had just faded a lot in the past 7 months. When you change something (in my mind if was refreshing since it was the exact same as it was a few months ago. I'd just been lazy) it apparently gives people an open invitation to say WHAT EVER IS ON THEIR MIND. If you don't like it. Keep it to yourself. It is done, I can't undo it. Just bite your lip. Someone was quite rude this morning. I was uncomfortable and too professional to say "how rude!"
(I don't think they meant to be honestly)

PS do you use drop box? It is a small app you can put on your phone and/or your computer and it adds a folder to your desktop where you can drag and drop files. You can access them anywhere you have an Internet connection. It is great because you get two gigs to start. You can create public folder to easily share things with others too. My in laws and I shared a ton of photos that way. No uploading and all that. Drop them on the folder and BAM I can see them on my phone. I wasn't asked to post by Dropbox. I just think it is so kick ass I wanted to share. If you are interested send me an email and I can invite you. When you invite people you get a little bit more space. MORE SPACE TO SAVE KITTEN PHOTOS.  byhillary AT gmail

I just noticed we are sitting alike. I am my father's child sometimes. We are only 20 years apart, sometimes we are too much alike. ha. headbutt.

Two weeks ago we met them for lunch and went and walked on the beach. (Think Dave looks like his fam?)

Can't believe it's the last week of September and I have my feet in the ocean and its beautiful. New England you so qwazy

It was wild having my feet in the ocean at the end of September and it not being cold. It was quite warm for New England actually. (then this past weekend it was 87 degrees on October 9th. INSANITY)

I have more pics from this weekend but the post was already long enough ;)

Umm, why would your boss say something about your new hair color?? it's beautious!!! I love your hair red, but the dark color is awesome for fall/winter and that picture of you is so pretty.

That all sounded whiny. I hate to be whiny. I'm sorry. I don't want to be one of thos "only say nice things" people. I more subscribe to the "don't be a douche" motto.

Also none of it was directed at anyone on my site. :)

You can be whiny, it's your blog after all. Plus you're not being whiny. One doesn't have to be all rainbows with opinions, but it's also not good form to share opinions (namely mean ones) without being even asked. I am one known to say something might not be my personal style and therefore am not the person to get an opinion from. Anyway I could rant along with you forever. Just hope things are going better.

(PS I totally will share harsher opinions with my mom, but it's always in a joking manner and she and I are just like that)

PS, I've read your blog for a long time but I don't thik I've ever commented. I enjoy your honesty and your down to earth posts. I am a Boston girl also so it's fun for me to read a local blog!

I love your coat! It's sooo cute. It does have a very Lemony Snicket feel to it. Sorry to hear it shrunk. I hate when that happens.

I think your color came out pretty, I also think it'll fade down a little less stark in a week or so. People are too rude sometimes. Ah well, just try to ignore them.

Smiling!Hillary is so pretty. Especially in the candid shot. Can't wait to see more pics from your birthday. It looks like you had a great time.

Megan. Oh it totally will and that makes me sad! Stark is the goal! I want über dark before black dark. I'm actually working on not daily washing and super color care.

What a pretty birthday gal you were. Good for you for treating yourself! I agree with you, I also do a better job on my own hair.

I hope you had a great birthday.

First of all, your outfit is TOTES CUTE! Second of all, I love your hair dark AND light. Lucky. You fair skinned, light eyed girls have more leeway with the color than a pale, olive skinned, brown-eyed one. I covet red hair but it makes me look not right. AND...other people are stoopid if they don't like your hair. Just wait until you have kids (if ya wanna), you wouldn't believe how helpful people think they are being when they tell you they hate the baby name you picked out. :)

I love your new shade and pretty waves! I was like Whaoooo! That's hot! I love it! My favorite comment for rude people is, "Bite me Krispy Kreme." hahahhahaha!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, if I didn't say that already!

happy birthday!

Frankly, your hair would be gorgeous if it were polka dots with leopard print thrown in. You have gorgeous hair regardless of color. I love this new rich brown. Haters gonna hate sadly.

The hair colour looks sensational. I think you look really glamorous with that dark shade. I think you have very beautiful hair whatever the cut and colour but this colour and style is particularly stunning.
