Seeing spots

Do not read on if you don't want to see pictures of my medical afflictions!

Tuesday after work I noticed I was itchy. By the time we went for dinner it was out of control. I couldn't stop scratching my ear and head all through waiting for our pizza. I made an emergency run into a CVS for cream. Then another stop at Target on the way home for Benadryl because I wasn't comfortable in my own skin.

Then Wednesday I woke up like this. I took this in the car on the way to the hospital (my dr can't get me in same day. So frustrating)

hives!

They gave me a lot of perplex looks and decided it wasn't measles, chicken pocks or the bubonic plague and said that the meds they gave me when I was there LAST WEEK probably gave me hives. FUN TIMES! As I sat there the hives started bonding and forming mega hives. This was leaving the hospital 2 hours after first picture.

hives!

I had them all over my trunk but not below my knees or elbows. They were on my eyelid and in my ear!! They gave me some new rx and told me not to go to work and to go home and sleep it off because they were gonna knock me out.

By late afternoon they looked their worst. My neck and ear were BURNING.

I had a sleepless night where the meds made me SLEEPLESS and I woke up and my face at least is almost totally back to (my) normal. I only wore lipstick and mascara for fear of aggravating what ever the hell it was.

and as any normal person does... I posted it on Facebook and texted my family pictures. My dad thinks it was the meds, my friends think it was stress then my dad had to one up everyone and say it might be my new apartment. What ever it was, it sucked and I don't want to ever feel like that again. I am still itchy on my head and body but nothing like yesterday. Doctor google called it Prickly Heat AND stress. Which kinda makes sense since I had a large hive in the shape of a bra. HOT I tell ya.

I remember having full body hives once before in my life. I was a senior in high school and I had bronchitis. My mom took me to doctor and they gave me a med and I puffed up all over. I couldn't take a new med for the bronchitis until the hives were out of my system. I was a wreck. I got very skinny and had to get shots in my hips to get my levels back up. MOFO it hurts. I am prone to random rashes. Often. Nothing on this scale though.

Fun right?

I did get one thing accomplished though. I put a table cloth on my table.

My gram was HORRIFIED that I didn't have a table cloth. She told me she couldn't be expected to eat off my bare CLEAN table. She then proceeded to lay out her cloth napkin and go in the kitchen and get a paper one. grr. I haven't had a kitchen table since Florida 10 years ago, of course I didn't have one. I got this plastic one at Target. I'd have to wash it every meal if it were cloth.

they gave me predisone(?) which apparently is a miracle drug.

Oh my gosh, that sounds AWFUL! I'm so glad you're feeling better! Prednisone is supposedly a miracle, yes. I've taken it before. :)

That's awful hives are the worst, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Oh that is the WORST! I had hives like that a few years ago, no one could figure out the cause. Glad you're healing!

Hope you feel 100% soon.

Ack! I've had hives once before when I ate my grandma's cranberry relish. I still get a minor rash if I eat something like crasins, but hives are a MAJOR bummer. Glad you're looking better so quick. Prednisone really does heal everything, lol. One of my ferrets was actually on it for a while, so it's even a miracle drug for animal sicknesses!

Glad to hear you are getting back to normal!!

And that is a very cute table cloth. :)

Yowch! I really hope you're feeling better asap. That sucks a bunch. You do look like you've healed pretty quickly, so hopefully you'll be 100% soon.

I'm allergic to bandaid adhesive. I can only wear certain brands in the fabric type, and still have mild reactions. It's awesome to put a bandaid over a papercut or something and take it off, only to have a rash in the same shape as the bandaid.

So glad it cleared up...I had an ear infection and they gave me penicilin to clear it up...which gave me hives so bad it went to the ER...there they gave me another dose of penicilin to clear it, not realizing it was the penecilin that did it to me...ahhhh!
Hate hives...so glad your are gone!!

It's highly possible it was the meds. I speak from experience. In college, I had a sinus infection and had to take antibiotics for 10 days and on the last day, I broke out in hives everywhere. Turns out I'm allergic to sulfa. The doctor told me if you are allergic to the medicine you either break out right away or at the end. The bad thing about being at the end is that the medicine has already been in your system for whatever amount of days so it takes longer to go away. I did lots of calamine baths and Benedryl. Hope you feel better soon. Definitely find out what was in your medicine and avoid it from now on.

Heather I'm allergic to sulfa!!!

Oh yuck! Hoping you are feeling better. I had never heard of anyone being allergic to sulfa until I started dating my bf. His daughter has the same allergy and I've seen it in action. Ugh.

I've also had random rashes myself. What a nightmare! Feeling for you!

Hives suck. Sorry about that. I have an aversion to table cloths for no particular reason. My mother in law (who is very French and proper) keeps buying me fancy jacquard table cloths (particularly Christmas themed ones for the holidays). I have no use for these schmancy cloths. I come from poor white trash. We just don't do it. :)

p.s. I just found your blog and you have very lovely green eyes. But that is off subject, but I am telling you anyway.

@lonestarcasie this gram is french! Ha. She was one of 15 and I'm sure the table was properly made every night. So not me!
