I have been stalking something on her site I was inspired to try the WendyB pose today. She looks so cute doing it.. I look kinda silly.

I need to cut my bangs TODAY. I keep tilting my head up because I can't see with them this long. Every photo I was at an angle.

Well I wasn't in this one. But it wasn't the pose I wanted. People have been complaining a lot on other outlets about people who post more than one pic of an outfit. I was nervous to post a second THE SHAME. Katy of Modern Chic does a weekly post where people fill it out and post it on their site and I hated the topic the other day which was things that bother people when other bloggers do x. I don't even know the people and I took things personally. Total vanity eh? I kept getting pissed the more I read thinking BUT I DO THAT. Carly Simon should write a song about that. oh wait. That was probably about me too, I just know it.

IMG_5779 this?

I don't wear this dress often. Mostly because I am not convinced on how well it works with my skin tone. I am not going to be all OMG I'm so pale, ignore my blinding skin. I mean obviously I have fair skin, I burn easily. I slather on the sunscreen. But this is how I like it. I don't like fake tans on myself. But I do know somethings don't flatter me as much because of that.

While we are on the topic. If you have a rec for a  strong sunscreen that MUST be cruelty free,I would love to hear it. I used to use Neutrogena and now that I am running out I need to replace it. The one I have leaves a film. DO NOT LIKE.

Moss green liner on top and bottom. Shimmer silver shadow. Bright peach blush. Peach lip gloss. Fishtail braid. (Learn how on youtube.)

I always take these pics at an angle because I am not skilled at the head on portrait that I don't dislike. I always look mad or smirky.

Oh man the HAIR TOUCH. the "oh you just caught me being coy" pose.

Nice pose! And you don't really qualify as annoying till you show eight photos of one outfit and one of those poses is crouching on the ground while touching your hair and pouting.

I agree. It's the damn narcissism assuming it's always about me! Yes real people some I know all bitching their hate and it was hard to nit take personally. Mind you they were talking blogger as a general

I don't get it. If you want to post the same picture 40 times, it's your blog. Should I not like that, I would move on. As it is, I like that you give different angles/detail shots/makeup shots. Do these complaining people even exist? They're probably boring robots.

I love today's dress and yesterdays - the style and the patterns. Also being very fair I struggle with the same question about flattering or not with pale legs, etc. - no easy answer. When people comment I don't reply, I just stare at them - they get the hint. Feet don't bother me but I normally don't really look at them - the shoes are what I'm staring at. In this case I did notice that your feet and pedicure are very nice. (Runs to get pedicure.) Also, I only look at your blog for the mulitple outfit pictures (kidding I also look at it because you're so sweet)!! Actually I appreciate it because not every picture is identical and there are different angle to be examined if you see what I mean.

One last thing - cutest hair tie ever!

As a person whose nickname in high school was Snow White, I feel lucky that I love our skin tone too. :-) That is a darling and very comfortable dress! I should know, I had it--gave it to a friend whom it just suited more. I think the bright colors totally work on you! And you can wear white in any case--you are fair, but not washed-out, if you know what I mean. Even without makeup you have a lot of natural color and interest in your features and hair.
I love as many pics as possible of an outfit! and closeups, or big pics too. I am totally into the interesting details of an outfit--patterns, textures, jewelry, etc. So your makeup closeups rule! I've gotten great ideas from them. Oh, the Finnish woman who blogs "No Signposts In The Sea"--I love it when she shoots down a patterned skirt to show her shoes. Stuff like that, totally cool. Please put as many pics as you wish!

And what you said to Kayla below--YES!!! I can't believe the rudeness out there. Simple courtesy, tolerance and kindness are so important--just as much on the internet as in person!

Love this dress!  It is fun and cheerful.   Someday I hope to have enough hair to bother learning that cool braid.

Braving disqus to give you love!  And when I beefed about a lot of pics I was thinking of a particular person who posts, I shit you not, like 20 pics of the same outfit, nearly the same pose.  Not the far more normal 1-6 pics that show different details, poses, lighting, or are important in context.  I liked her outfits but gave up on her blog due to that.

For cruelty free, did you try the BNB app?  It's Be Nice to Bunnies, I think PETA sponsors it.

PersonallyI like blogs with lots of photo's. I like to see close ups of details especially of makeup and jewellery which are not that visible in a photo which is taken to show the entire look. I also like to see an outfit from different angles.

I hope I didn't imply I though other wise. I think pale is the best! I love my skin color.

I love the dress, it's adorable!  Complexion-shlamexion. Pale is beautiful baby! I'm marrying a vampire, or that's the only way I can describe someone who can burn in less than 30 minute in indirect sunlight!

Dude no explaination necessary. My vanity just speaks louder than my common sense and I'm aware of that flaw. ;)

I think the dress is very flattering on you. It's got enough color that it doesn't wash out your pale skin. The cut really works for you - and I omg I love your hair! My bangs have reached that same stage, but I'm powering through it at the moment.

I know when I wrote my "blogger peeves", it wasn't directed at any particular blog - it was only things I noticed that kept me from following blogs. For example, having a see-through area over a busy background makes text hard to read. I've noticed a few blogs like that, and my bad vision can't read that. Accessibility definitely makes a difference when choosing to follow a blog and that's all I tried to comment on. Bitchfests aren't good for anyone.

I did dis on Disqus, but that's only because I have issues with it from time to time. That's just a technical thing that is outside of the blogger's hands.

I think when many people said "a bunch of pictures of one outfit" it was in reference of bloggers who post a whole page worth of huge images and very little text. But! If that's what a blogger wants - there is a niche of blogs that do that, and that's fine. I personally prefer getting to know the person along with the images.  I think 2-3 pictures can be helpful to get the overall feel of an outfit. Especially if you can't decide which pose you like better. I usually only do one, but that's just to keep consistent for myself.

I think I took some of it personally, but I just tried to go "well that's your opinion" and move on. I have to remind myself there are people who like my blog for what it is.

Such a pretty summery dress...love the fishtail braid!

byhillary said...

can I get an Amen? MOVE ON. yes why is that so hard for some people?

I couldn't wear anything under it. It's high 90s but I do have an orange cardigan on at work.

I say post as many pictures as you like. It's your blog and you can do what you want. I can't believe the way people go off about stuff that really doesn't matter. If it's not to one's taste, move on.

I love this dress.  But, I love all things floral.  I have a top I love that isn't the greatest next to my skin so I add a solid color underneath. Maybe that would work for this dress. A solid color that just peeks out under the sleeves, neckline and skirt?   Though I'm not able to bring myself to try it (mainly because I don't wear skirts or dresses), the two skirt thing might work.

oh and yes I usually love the quizes. I don't love bitchfests anymore. At one point I would of. But I realized it is not healthy.

I use trader Joe's SPF 30 for a body sunscreen. It is cruelty free and cheap.

I don't know if I said this one here or not but I do not think "putting yourself out there" gives anyone permission to be critical. That's like saying Oh you were walking down the street in public so it is ok for me to be mean to you. NOPE no it isn't ok. Why does putting yourself out there give anyone permission to buck social norms?

Kayla said...

That dress looks amazing on you! I can see what you mean about the colors of it next to your skin, but I must admit I wouldn't have thought it if you hadn't have said it :) I think it looks great. I also completely agree about people complaining about other people's blogs. I tend to post 3 pictures of my outfits. Mostly because I think the different pieces of my outfit looks different in different pictures but isn't it my choice? I know we put ourselves out there by having a blog in the first place, but I do hate the criticism. Normally I love Katy's survey questions too. If you don't have anything nice to say.....
