I lost a bar fight

I wanted to say thank you to all those who expressed concern on Friday about my "poisoning" and dentist. I really appreciate it. From talking with a friend I decided my dish came into contact with sesame. I am allergic to sesame and it's usually pretty quick (under 10 minutes) which this was.

Regarding my dentist visit.... It was a very quick and easy filling. It was in and out of there in like 20 minutes. It didn't hurt, I didn't bite her, nothing. I have had a LOT of dental work (multiple surgeries, 14 teeth pulled, 3 years braces) and I have a small mouth with big teeth never had a bruising issue. Until now.

Friday morning I was a little swollen.

Then in the afternoon someone pointed out a bruise.

By that night it was bigger and it HURT.

My dentist was closed and there was no emergency contact. I've had the same dentist for 8 years and she's great. I don't blame her, had to explain that.

Saturday morning it was worse!

After a meal and few hours out and about by Saturday afternoon I looked like I lost a bar fight.

We kept and eye on it. Dave googled like a fiend and we decided that it probably was that the needle poked a vein because the bruise was definitely weighted and darker on bottom like it settled.

Today, Sunday it looks much better. Since the pain had subsided and it looked better I am much less freaked. I still look like half a chipmunk though. I plan to stop by tomorrow on my way to work. If she's not there I'm asking for an email to send this post. (totally serious) and I hope I can prevent this in the future. The worst part was I was embarrassed. We walked around makeup counters for a few minutes yesterday and I did get some stares. Also the spontaneous "oh honey!!" Dave keeps doing makes me pout at the thought. I'm vain I am aware.

Have you ever had this happen?

Oh my gosh. I'd be afraid that someone might think Dave beats you.

I've been really fortunate to not have a lot of dental work done (it might help that I simply don't go to the dentist to hear bad news in the first place...that might bite me in the butt one day).

You don't look bad at all, it just looks really painful. Don't be embarrassed. If you'd REALLY lost a bar fight, then I'd be embarrassed. But you didn't.

I'm betting you'd probably be the one who'd win, anyway.

Any kind of health scare is just terrible! I once got a black eye inadvertently from my husband... he bent down to pick up something and his head hit me right in the face on his way up... he felt awful (as did my eye) and I didn't know how to explain to others what happened! Feel better soon! Humility is a good thing once in awhile. :-)

WOW, so sorry- but I do think you should play up the bar fight story, how often can you get that kind of street cred?

WOW!! I think Dave is right because this happened to me once and the dental hygenist knew what she'd done and immediately called the dentist in to see if there was anything to be done for it. Nope. Bruised and swollen - wished I thought to say I was in a bar fight too and that the other guy looked worse!

Ouch! I hope you are back to feeling awesome again soon. Dental work can be such a pain, literally!

I had a molar pulled once when I heard the dentist say "oops!" OOPS!? He had apparently opened up a hole to my sinus cavity. I had to go off to an oral surgeon!

I hope it's better today.
I've had a similar thing happen. I was 20 and slept in an park outside and the next day my cheek was totally swollen. Then it turned red. It was swollen for 3 weeks and I looked like a deranged chipmunk. My doc thought it was an allergic reaction but he could never figure out to what.

I hope you feel better. When I got my wisdom teeth out my face looked a lot like that.

I can't really knock on dentists too much thought since my father in-law is one . . .

I hope it doesn't appear I'm knocking dentists. I didn't say anything negative intact I called her great.

I am sorry to hear this and see it..
I have had a lot of dental work done but never had a bruise... it's odd because it's like an inside out bruise.
I hope the swelling goes down too.
