Hilly phone home

I am wearing clothes today. I am even wearing clothes I like.

Red track jacket with removable hood Forever 21
Striped Turtleneck Target
Cherry watch necklace Marc Jacobs
Ring Gift
Wideleg trousers Gap
Earrings QVC

But I feel like crap. My Elliot hoodie makes it a bit better.

What do you do for headaches and migraines?
pills, heaters, essential oils tell me what you do.

I am under a neurologists care and have been most my life but I am hoping one person will have that one thing that will work for me. I have taken every migraine rx out there. I have tried alternative therapies. I have taken epilepsy meds. I have taken herbal meds. I have tried avoiding foods. But I still get there so I am hoping one of you have that one thing I haven't tried. It is mostly for headaches. Migraines I have a medicine that works for most the time. Headaches well I just can't shake them no matter what I throw at them.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Migraines are the WORST! The only thing that even moderately helps me is a cool, dark room and pressing the heel of my hand into the center of my forehead for counterpressure- but even that doesn't cure it. At least you LOOK awesome! If migraines could be combatted with cuteness, your head would be a-okay right now.

one of my coworkers suffers from terrible migraines, so i know how miserable they are for her. i dont usually get debilitating headaches, but the one time i did, my then-boyfriend (now dear fiance) bought me these migraine patches that you put on your forehead. they are kinda like ben gay patches (heck, might be identical) and they are cool and tingly. i also took other meds, but i attributed feeling better to those patches.
looking it up online, i see a brand called "wellpatch" that looks similar to what i used, though i think mine was excedrin brand.

hope you find something that works and feel better!

Sorry you are in such pain. I know how horrible migraines can be. Suffered with them myself since high school. I try to stay away from as many medications as possible so I am all for natural remedies. These are the two that I have used in the last while. Both told to me after I moved to Germany.

My German neighbor told me about Meadowsweet (an herb) tea (I believe it might also be known as Queen of the Meadow). You brew 2 teaspoon blossom in 1 cup boiling water, let it soak for 15 minutes, drink 2 cups daily. I dont know if it has some sort of magical property but I do know that my migraine attack level has come down from about 3 a month to about one every few months. A huge improvement. One side note though, she told me that if you are pregnant, nursing or TTC you shouldnt drink it.

Also, my dr. told me that when I start feeling the onset of a headache. That first "pinch" or "pounding" to drink a big glass of pure apple juice. That also seems to help.

I hope you find some relief somehow soon. You do make sick look really cute though in your bright red and stripes.

A previous roommate of mine actually uses botox treatments for migraines! She goes for injections to her Dr every couple of months & it really helped her when nothing else did!

your not on my twitter but I was talking about this last week! I have been SERIOUSLY considering it. Can you tell me more? How often does she go, where do they do them? (temple, crown) and do you know how much it is? I think I am going to do it. It can't hurt at this point.

Aaron gets 'em and hasn't found anything either. He holes himself up in bed in the dark. Sometimes he likes to put Origin's Peace of Mind (minty lotion) on his temples.

Have you considered non-western treatments? I swear by acupuncturist, she has fixed everything from my terrible skin, insomnia, and back pain. Or maybe Chinese herbal medicine or a naturopath?

masmami I used to do acupuncture then I stopped because I couldn't afford it anymore and now I don't have one in boston. But yes I did it and it worked well then.

The only thing that has worked for my migraines is taking a daily beta blocker (propranolol/Inderal -- 40mg). For tension headaches (which will become migraines if I don't crush them) I take a fistful of Ibuprofen -- 1000 mg -- or if it's nighttime Ibuprofen pm. Even with the beta blocker, I still get at least one killer migraine each year; after a few hours of vomiting, I cave and go to the ER for a shot.

I have gotten mild to moderate headache relief from cold compresses and from this weird sinus trick I got from a friend: while standing in a hot shower, snort the warm water into one nostril, then the other. No idea why that helps, but it does (a bit).

Good luck!!! I hope you find something that works for you. :)

Spygirl I have gotten down to 1 migraine a week and about 5 vomity ones a year. Last one over thanksgiving I wanted to crawl in cave. I started getting them at 10. That water trick is a old remedy! Have you ever used a neti pot? I want to go home and try it right now since you said it.

I second Acupuncture! I go to a community Acupuncture place in Seattle that is on a sliding scale and thus, much more affordable. I recommend Community Acupuncture to anyone who is interested in Acupuncture. I googled 'Community Acupuncture Boston" and a few places popped up. You might want to give it another shot at one of these establishments.

Aw, I hope you're feeling better. I get migraines, too, and nothing I've found has worked that well either.

my mom gets terrible migranes, and for her they are often triggered by artificial sweeteners or MSG, which is lurking in A LOT of foods, especially packaged/processed stuff. it goes by a lot of different names, too, so she's a big label reader.

Not cool about feeling crummy, I don't have any remedy ideas but hope you get some good ideas!

Christine. Oh I know those well. I have had every test too so I have my triggers figured out
dairy
MSG
any fake sweetener (can't even do sugarless gum)
wine (instant want to die migraine)
lunch meats
mushrooms
sesame
pork (pork chops and pork loin in particular)

but I get them even when I avoid all that.
Wah.

Hey Hillary-

Topamax. It is the only thing that worked for me, and like you I had been on them all. Luckily, it just went generic last year. I had been paying a fortune but it had been worth it. Seriously, while I hate to have to take something daily it has truly made life normal again. (Auras, blindness in one eye and numbness down one arm, then vomiting and out of comission for the rest of the day. Often. Now I never get them.)

I wish you lots of luck. Migraines are just terrible. (Cats do help).

I took topamax for 5 years and then I developed horrible side effects. I will never take it again. They just kept getting worse and worse.
Disorentation, dizzy, memory loss, it was bad! It got so bad I'd just forget what I was doing in the middle of things and it'd take me 5 minutes to remember.
(it's the epilepsy med I mentioned above actually)

I'm sorry I can't offer any wonderful advice about migranes, but I just want to compliment you on your ability to manage to both perfectly project how you are feeling and also look stunning in the process. These are my favorite photos of you.
