So the lighting makes my hair look banded. Its not I assure you. It needs to be dyed desperately but I don't want to do it in my tiny apt with a tiny kitten running around like a chicken with its head cut off (that's a real true saying for another time) So I am in mad love with my new ugly sunglasses but I don't have the balls to wear them in public. Gah I don't know why I can't get myself to do it. I have coveted them since the paps got the Olsens in a Chanel pair last year?? I am a very shy person and sometimes it gets the better of me. I can't tell you how many outfits I have put together than just didn't have the guts to wear. There have been countless outfits I have photographed and then CHANGED before I left for work. I will never tell you which ones though ;)

Do you have something you bought you just can't get yourself to wear though you are DYING to?

I know others do this. Hell my husband has done this. Bought killer cord blazers with elbow patches and just can't leave the house in it no matter how damn handsome I tell him he looks in it. Guys make fun of guys who deviate from the khaki and blue shirt stencil. Men at his work have relentlessly teased him for something innocent as a yellow shirt. It makes me so mad I have almost contacted them to tell them off.

Oh my goodness I love your glasses. Very Chanel-like!! I have a lot of clothes I have but don't wear....mostly because they're not really my style anymore. I should probably get rid of them. But I like them too much..it's a hard life..hahah

I don't mean the ones that arent' you style. I am wondering about the ones you LOVE and adore but are too shy/scared/worried how you look in it to wear. That short skirt, sheer blouse things like that!

Some of my dressier or vintage clothing is like that. It's fab and I know it's fab, but I feel too conspicuous if I wear them out.

I do love those glasses on you. Not everyone can pull them off, but I think you look great in them. Maybe you can start out small, like wearing them in the car. Or wear with them out, but bring another pair with you in your purse so you can swap out if you start feeling weird.

Tina. We city folk ride the subway :)
that's a very good idea the swapout.

I have some vinatage dresses I'm scared to wear 4 in particular.

I understand totally! I LOVE vintage and sometimes I find the most fabulous treasure that I take forever to wear out to work or dinner because I don't want to look as if I am going to a costume party. Your glasses are fab and look great on you! You definitely should be wearing those out.

I can totally relate. When I'm wearing something that pushes me outside my comfort zone, I just try to remember that 99% of the world isn't even going to REGISTER me as a person/object to be observed. They're all too caught up in themselves. The other 1% is unlikely to comment, and if they do, they're unlikely to be mean! Gives me a boost of chutzpah.

Also the sunnies are RAD and you should try to make yourself wear 'em. Just once before summer ends.

you can definitely pull those sunglasses off! i'm pretty much whatever when it comes to clothes --i've worn so many strange things over the years and heard abt it from people on the street/at work/everywhere that i don't worry much about it. if i like it, i'll wear it. i do though sometimes experience that uncertainty if something i like feels too 'on trend' --you know what i mean? like i feel more comfortable wearing something unusual/weirdo/unplaceable than i do wearing something that's like 'as seen in Lucky' or whatever. also it is totally true that if you commute on public transit there are days where you just don't want to wear things that will make people stare!

I do this a lot...and then I feel so guilty for spending money on something I'm not even wearing.

I don't really know a cure except to force myself to wear them. Once I'm out of the house, it's never as bad as I imagined it to be!

hilary that is EXACTLY it. The Subway where people stare for 30 minutes.gah.

kelly. I should just DO IT and THEN see what happens instead of worrying.

Kimberly. Wearing to lunch TODAY because you.

Sal I think there is a broken connection in some of our brains from what we think and reality. :P I know in mine.

eden. You are my style hero and I WANT YOU BACK GIRL or at least make me feel better and less vain and like her for doing this even though I was at it way before her. (ahem)

lemondrop Most mine are like vintage maxi hawaiian dresses, a polka dress and a 50's big collar I am scared to wear. so yes I so feel ya.

Yay, we are sunnies-twins! If you want, tell me what day you want to wear them and I'll wear mine too and we can mentally hold hands to give you courage!

Best thing about those glasses is that they are SO dark that no one can see your eyes, so you can really hide behind them.

hillary said...

you should get commission I bought them after seeing them on YOU! I had coveted the chanel ones SO BAD

hillary said...
